Mental Health Awareness Month | A Reminder That Care Goes Both Ways

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, a time to recognize the importance of mental and emotional well-being. In healthcare, especially, the pace, pressure, and responsibility can add up quickly, making it just as important to care for yourself as to care for others.

Taking a moment to check in with yourself matters. Stress, fatigue, and emotional strain are part of the reality many healthcare professionals face, and acknowledging that is the first step toward managing it. Whether it’s setting boundaries, staying connected with loved ones, or simply giving yourself space to reset, small actions can make a meaningful difference over time.

For our Accountable Healthcare Staffing professionals, support is always available.

Our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is designed to help you manage personal challenges that may impact your well-being and work performance. The program offers confidential support, including problem assessment, short-term counseling, and referrals to appropriate community and private services. These services are provided at no cost to you, and any participation remains completely confidential (except where disclosure is required by law).

If additional support is needed, EAP representatives can help outline available options and determine what may be covered under your health plan. Any services not covered would be the employee's responsibility.

You can reach the EAP at:
844-213-8968 (if enrolled in the medical plan)
800-316-2796
Or visit mutualofomaha.com

For more information, you can also contact the Human Resources Department.

Supporting Yourself During Challenging Times

  • Recognize and accept what you cannot control
  • Talk to someone when you feel ready, at your own pace
  • Permit yourself to feel what you’re feeling. Difficult situations are part of the work
  • Understand that recurring thoughts, stress, or emotional reactions can be normal and will lessen over time
  • Stay connected with loved ones as much as possible
  • If support is available to you, use it

You show up for others every day. This month is a reminder to show up for yourself too.
