Meet our Traveler of the Week Carmen Cummins
When did you become a nurse and why?
I became a nurse in 1996 at the suggestion of my best friend’s mom who was a NICU nurse at the time. It’s proven to be a rewarding and diverse career choice with many opportunities to learn, grow, and make a difference in people’s lives.
What made you go into travel nursing?
I’ve always loved traveling, but didn't know that I could do it simultaneously with my career. So, after working at the same hospital for 16 years, I decided to take the leap and become a travel nurse!
What has been your favorite location for travel nursing so far and why?
I’d have to say one of my favorite places I’ve traveled to was Connecticut. I’d never been to the East Coast before and this area turned out to be a great home base to see so many neighboring states.
What is your favorite thing about travel nursing (the experience, locations, training, etc.)?
Meeting new people, experiencing different ways to do things, and also bringing my knowledge and expertise to the table are probably my favorite things about being a travel nurse. It definitely keeps me on my toes!
What advice can you give others who are interested in travel nursing? If you have the opportunity to be a travel nurse I say go for it!
Thank you for being our Traveler of the Week. Some great Accountable items are on their way to you!
