It is an unprecedented time in Children’s Hospital New Orleans’ history! With a $300 million campus transformation and capital campaign effort underway, we are investing in the future of Louisiana’s children. The transformation of our campus is not only improving infrastructure and technology, but the enhancements we’re introducing will also make it easier for patients and families across Louisiana and the Gulf South to access our vital services. Join us on this extraordinary journey:
From the main campus in Uptown New Orleans featuring 229+beds to satellite locations in Baton Rouge, Covington, Lafayette, and Metairie, 14 pediatric primary care locations, and two after-hours clinics, we’re working to ensure that families across our state and region have access to specialized pediatric healthcare close to home. Last year, Children’s Hospital cared for children from all 64 parishes in Louisiana, 43 states, and nine countries!
Children’s Hospital New Orleans is making a significant investment in the future of pediatric healthcare with a $300 million transformation project currently underway,
expanding the hospital’s footprint by 235,000 square feet. The project includes a new medical tower with expanded cancer, emergency, cardiac intensive care, and surgical centers, along with a free-standing behavioral health hospital. The project is designed with the patient and family at the center, with a new registration pavilion, 600-car parking garage and skybridge, family housing, improved dining, and a dedicated child-life center.

When you make a list of all the unique things Louisiana has to offer visitors, you quickly see the long-lasting influences of our French, Spanish and African ancestry. Our past is well-preserved in our architecture, music, food, and lifestyles—which include our amazing festivals—and of course in our museums of history and fine arts.
One facet of Louisiana that makes it such an appealing visitor destination is its deep and colorful history. European explorers found their way to the region and inhabited the area very early relative to settlement of much of the rest of the continent. As a result, some communities in Louisiana are among the oldest in the United States. Before those explorers arrived, of course, people we now know as Native Americans populated the region. Reaching still farther back in time, ancient peoples left their mark on the area thousands of years ago.
The state of Louisiana offers many ways to explore the region’s rich history, in hundreds of museums, historic structures, landmarks, artifacts and works of art. The careful preservation and restoration of these sites and artifacts have created many rare opportunities for visitors to experience Louisiana’s history and gain insights into the diverse cultures that continue to influence the state today.
