From May 11 to May 17, 2025, skilled nursing care centers nationwide will celebrate National Skilled Nursing Care Week® (NSNCW). Established by the American Health Care Association (AHCA) in 1967, this annual event recognizes the essential role of skilled nursing professionals who provide compassionate, round-the-clock care to millions needing long-term and post-acute services.

This year’s theme, “Tapestry of Life,” shines a spotlight on the personal stories and connections that come together in skilled nursing communities. Every resident, caregiver, and staff member adds a meaningful thread to the tapestry—each one a symbol of resilience, compassion, and shared humanity. It’s a time to honor not only the clinical excellence of these professionals but the emotional bonds they form with those they care for.

To help facilities celebrate, AHCA has released a full planning guide, promotional materials, and themed items that support activities and recognition efforts. These resources encourage care centers to create memorable, uplifting experiences for residents, staff, and families alike.
